Well no doubt you all think im dead by now and constructing a shrine to rival the Tokugawa's in my honour so don't stop on my account! :>
Let me start by saying that Loney Planet Japan got it wrong when they said Sendai is a good base of ops in the north of Japan. Very little english is spoken or understood here except for some of the friendlier uni students generally studying the language. Post office, banks, non western hotel chains you can forget about it.
Second, there english map is either outdated or trippin.
Only one of the three net cafes on it exist and there is no Aust consulate, plus my hotel is Chisan on the map but Chisun in RL.
So thats the bad, the good is it's sorta like a little Tokyo but every street has a name and there signed too.
This is the home of the Date clan, for those of you who have seen Ikkitiousen Date Masamune should be a familar name.
Anyhow, believe we left off in Nikko. Been in Sendai almost two weeks now, leave for Aomori Monday. Sendai is lovely, 'city of trees' is how they advertise it. This Masamune Date dude was awesome, like a renaissance man but pretty sure he was well prior to that.
Been to Matsushima twice now, one nite trip another day. Both with there own appeals. Thinking i'll go again as there is a bunch of onsen's out there been in use since this Masamune guy and proly prior too.
The crazy things Ive seen!? Will get pics uploaded v soon, promise! Great seafood here and in Matsushima.
Couple notes for the tech guys, power to usb dosn't appear to output same power as pc usb ports, no wireless in starbucks and a few of these hotels also did i mention Akihabra prices for electronics ain't as good as there made out?
Well thats it for now folks. Will try to keep u up to dae more often.
C ya.
